Without junk food
How it benefitted me?

A snacking habit becomes worst kind of addiction for people who sit for long hours on their desk at their job. There are multiple options available for what the snacks could be, a packet of lays, some salty mix, milk chocolates, biscuits made from refined grains.
There is a lot of information that such food contains trans-fats that contribute to atherosclerosis, hamper weight management also, can cause digestive problems like enlarged liver, gastritis, bloating, gas in abdomen and heart burns.
For the past 3 years I have eliminated junk food from my diet. It happens that I savour it rarely once in 3–4 months when it becomes absolutely necessary to raise glutamines or prevent hypoglycemia when out in the field.
And its a miracle, I do not crave for M&M, Choco pies, bounty’s and so on. I have an addiction to health. And minimally indulging in junk food has added on to it. Some of my experiences are as follows:
- I don’t have a bad breath and my periodontitis got managed this way. Replacing junk with fiber, fruits, home-cooked food for 3 years has made me smell good. And I have good digestion. Very rarely I am constipated or have bowel irritation. Hepatic fetor is a thing I do not have to worry about.
- I don’t sweat a lot and do not have hot flashes like people who indulge in snacks with alcohol for most days of the week. Having some walnuts or raisins does the work for me. My meal time is thrice daily, and those are small portions but good.
- My body weight has not been affected. I should confess that I hoped not having junk food will help me lose a few kilos, no that didn’t happen. Yet, I feel light with less bloating. One drawback- I do not have anything junk or fried to serve my friends and family who come home. I have to think hard to provide some nutrition. Mostly those are dried fruits. Biscuits of course, if they contain whole grain cereals or are very light, I have 2 pieces of them during hypoglycemic spells.
- Most importantly, I learnt to endure physical activity as a source of serotonin and not the unhealthy food. It makes me breathe better and get rid of pimples on face, sebum around nose, flushing my skin with hydration through drinking a lot of water, without fearing water retention.
- And finally mental health. Yes, I can meditate, think positive thoughts, chew good food and stop munching. My behavior and assertive speech has improved. Nightmares have become less frequent, I am not sleep deprived due to full of garbage stomach. I practice constructive pass times and have become understanding socially, a change maker and a little free of obnoxious thoughts about myself, all this but one strategy, avoiding junk food.
- I am not even a pre-diabetic or pre-hypertensive. My triglycerides have normalized.
So that’s about it. I think we all can reap these benefits by just avoiding trans fats, packaged and junk food. My body is saying thanks to me in a number of ways. So will yours. Those who are health enthusiasts, shall benefit from cutting down such food in diet. Initially we might have addiction but food balancing is relatively easy during adulthood. We do not have to work a lot on it. You smell good, become healthy, wealthy and wise through good meals.
I can evade cancer, heart diseases, mental toxicity all by just this one strategy. I can cleanse my body. Remove toxins from blood and live healthy. No compromise on that, its a good way to manage your money also, do not waste it on stuff that might kill you or cause you so many problems that you start loathing yourself.
Be healthy and strong, from now on.
